Our boarding school in Lower Saxony, idyllically situated in the gentle hills of the Solling above Holzminden, can rightly count itself among the most beautiful boarding schools in Germany .
The historic buildings are located in the middle of a spacious 50-hectare park – a place that combines learning, life and nature in a unique way.
After graduating from primary school, we offer interested pupils from grade 5 onwards the opportunity to switch to our grammar school with boarding school – regardless of whether the goal is later the Abitur, the Mittlere Reife or the Fachhochschulreife .
Despite its quiet location in the south of Lower Saxony, our campus is excellently connected: The airports of Hanover and Paderborn as well as the ICE train stations Göttingen and Altenbeken are easily accessible. This means that trips home, family visits and holiday trips remain uncomplicated at any time.
The three large historic boarding houses – the lower house, the middle house and the upper house – reflect our central pedagogical idea: living and learning belong together.
Here you will find rooms for students of all grades, teachers’ apartments and study rooms under one roof. This concept was deliberately chosen – because from the very beginning it was intended that the pedagogical proximity between teachers and learners would also be expressed spatially.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the founders of the Solling boarding school deliberately decided against the use of a castle or manor house. Instead, a new building was built that was designed from the ground up for the coexistence of life and learning – a principle that still shapes the architecture and spirit of our school today.
The appearance of the boarding school is characterized by the typical Solling sandstone, the characteristic towers and the park-like grounds. Numerous facilities invite you to discover and create:
Our approximately 50-hectare park offers plenty of space for community and sporting activities - as well as picturesque retreats in nature.
The historic architecture and the open design of the campus create a familiarity and security that enables our students to feel comfortable, to develop creatively and to surpass themselves.
Familiar paths, hidden corners and small retreats make the campus a real temporary home – a place that strengthens joie de vivre, motivation and a sense of community .
