Fundraising
The Solling boarding school is not a school like any other. For over 110 years, it has been a place where young people can learn, make friends for life and develop their talents. It is a living and learning space in which they develop knowledge, attitude and a sense of responsibility.
This special experience comes from the community: teachers, parents, alumni and friends who support and accompany the boarding school.
Today, it is up to all of us to ensure that this school remains alive for future generations – through scholarships, projects and the commitment of a strong community that feels responsible for each other.
In a time of social tensions, geopolitical uncertainties and rapid technological changes, young people need more than specialist knowledge: education decides how we think, act and take responsibility.

"It is very important to me not only to give other students the opportunity to attend this school, but also to support the management team in their actions and to give them room for manoeuvre."
Gisela Kress, benefactor, former student 1966 – 1971
Commitment at the Solling boarding school has a long tradition
Fundraising at Internat Solling has always meant helping to shape the reality of education. Because even before the beginning of the 20th century, people invested time, energy and resources to build this boarding school.
The challenges of today – social, political, digital – make education more valuable and urgent than ever. Those who support the talents of tomorrow today are shaping a future built on competence, attitude and a sense of responsibility. More than ever, it is about taking responsibility together and accompanying young people on their way.
"The older I get, the clearer it becomes to me what important and essential impulses for my future life came from my time at boarding school. That's why I would like to give something back."
Bernd Schultz, benefactor, student from 1955 - 1963
Promoting talent. Open up opportunities. Strengthening diversity
Today, about 20 young people benefit annually from a merit-based scholarship from our scholarship foundation. They enrich boarding school life through social commitment, motivation and a sense of responsibility. We want to further open up these opportunities and give these opportunities to even more talented young people, regardless of the financial situation of their families.
Since its foundation in 2007, the number of young people supported by the LSH Scholarship Foundation has increased continuously. Our long-term goal: a capital stock of six million euros – an ambitious goal that can only be achieved by joining forces: large and small contributions – one-off or regular – contribute directly to this impact and flow immediately into the scholarships.
We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the large and small donations, for the tireless support of so many and that of the chairman of the scholarship foundation, Dr. Matthias Redlefsen. Without them, it wouldn’t work!
More about the scholarship foundation and our scholarship holders
"Just a few months ago, attending boarding school was unimaginable for me. The fact that I am given this opportunity to learn and live here makes me incredibly grateful."
Filipa Wellenbrock, scholarship holder since school year 2023/2024
Projects that strengthen our community
Projects and scholarships are intertwined: they create an environment in which diversity, achievement and community can grow in equal measure. They make our school a lively, inspiring place far beyond the classroom. Whether artistic initiatives, sporting competitions, social projects or innovative learning modules: They promote creativity, cohesion and the development of personality:
- Cultural and art initiatives
- New buildings and conversions
- pedagogical innovations, learning modules, digital equipment
- Sports, music, social initiatives
Fundraising makes all of this possible – as an expression of a community that feels responsible for the education of young people.
"The scholarship foundation gives young people access to a character-enhancing and cosmopolitan education. To support this and to be able to give something back to the Solling boarding school is a deep need and a matter of course for me due to my personal career."
Martin Thies
