Lower School

The lower level at the Solling boarding school offers children a gentle, yet challenging introduction to learning at the grammar school. In small classes and the boarding school community, students learn to take responsibility for themselves and others, to remain curious and to develop confidence in their own abilities. For us, teaching is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about discovering, trying things out and reflecting together.

In addition to subject teaching, learning workshops, projects and creative practical subjects play a central role. The children work independently, sometimes across grades, and are individually accompanied. Learning times take place in supervised learning workshops, so that learning and practicing are meaningfully integrated into everyday school life. Class council, learning diary and diverse community experiences strengthen social skills, co-determination and independence.

For example, the lower school at Internat Solling combines progressive pedagogical principles with clear technical foundations. We create a learning space in which children feel safe, develop joy in learning and can grow step by step into self-confident, responsible young people.
