Basic
science education
MINT stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. At Internat Solling, we would like to arouse the interest of our students in these areas and give them the opportunity to discover, promote and deepen their talents and talents. We see STEM not only as a “springboard” for successful professional careers: For us, a sound basic science education is the key to active and reflective participation in social discourse.
Our STEM promotion also contributes to personal development : curiosity, precision, patience, objectivity, self-reflection and motivation are strengthened, creative talents are supported, and a healthy competitive culture is promoted. Real-world projects support interdisciplinary and cross-grade learning as well as our cooperation with research institutes, universities and regional companies.
Our graduates remain connected to us as advisors, mentors and “critical friends” and our committed STEM staff is continuously educated.
To enable beginners and professionals to be creative and conduct independent research, we have the following in the STEM field:
In the upper school, the Solling boarding school offers basic and advanced courses in all natural sciences.
In the upper school we offer:
In the lower and middle school , young people can take advantage of the following courses and projects, among others:
In addition, competitions and working groups for all age groups round off the offer:
Camps, Excursions & Lectures: We organize for our students to participate in science camps lasting several days (E.G. XLAB, MINT-EC…) as well as excursions to research institutes, universities, companies or experimental field research in the region. For our STEM lectures , we invite renowned speakers from the world of research.
Since 2015, Internat Solling has been a full member of the national excellence school network MINT-EC (www.mint-ec.de), which includes over 340 of the approximately 3,000 German grammar schools. We are also the awarding body for the MINT-EC certificate, which facilitates access to study places or scholarships at over 70 universities and colleges.
Thanks to the Telekom Foundation , we have been offering the Junior Engineer Academy for grades 9 and 10 since the 2018/2019 school year. In close cooperation with universities and companies, our young people work on engineering issues, for example on energy-efficient construction and robotics. → More about the Junior Engineer Academy
We are a member of the Weserpulsar association, an association of over 40 companies, business and innovation promoters in the region.
Together with the Georg-Christoph-Lichtenberg-Schule and the Marion-Dönhoff-Gymnasium, we form a regional MINT-EC network with a focus on chemistry and physics, mathematics and genetic engineering.
As part of the Erasmus+ program, we cooperate with the Gymnasium Adriano Tilgher in Ercolano/Italy with a focus on water.
