Learning in
harmony
Music has always had a special place at Internat Solling – it is not only a cultural enrichment, but also an important part of the personal development of our students.
Our goal is to enable young people to experience, understand and create music – with head, heart and hand. Music history, theory and practice are intertwined and form a living whole. At the same time, the examination of works from different eras opens up new perspectives on other times, generations and cultures.
Music is particularly inspiring when it is in dialogue with art, literature and history. In interdisciplinary projects, our students discover how closely sound, expression and zeitgeist are connected.
Music lessons at Internat Solling become a journey of discovery through worlds of sound – from classical symphonies to jazz and pop to their own compositions.
With us, music is not only heard, but made.
Whether it’s a classical string quartet, pop band or jazz combo – we don’t just listen to music, we make it.
Our students can learn a variety of instruments – from drums, guitar and piano to violin and cello. They are taught by qualified teachers who provide individual support and inspiration.
The band, orchestra and a small choir rehearse regularly and perform at school events with an impressive repertoire.
For the upper school, we offer a special range of lessons: composing with professional notation software, which is available to all students free of charge.
We have a long tradition with the Detmold University of Music. Under the motto “Young people play for young people”, students present their examination programmes there as public concerts with us – a win for both sides.
Our students also perform regularly: at the morning speeches, at the Advent concert or at special school events in the Hohe Halle. These performances promote self-confidence, stage presence and the shared experience of music as a unifying force.
At Internat Solling, music can be felt everywhere – in the classroom, in the rehearsal rooms, on stage and in everyday life. It creates community, inspires and accompanies our students on their way to becoming open, curious and expressive personalities.
